Well said. I am sick of the prototype bashing. This is a list for those who WANT to use prototype. Would those who dont want to use it please leave.

Having said that, I also would like to say I think it is vital for prototype tat the lead developers have SOME presence on this list and let us know what the plans are even if that is in the saying "We are not sure, but we are still working on things" Just a simple Hi, Im still alive would go a long way.

As far as the "whats the rush for the next version" I somewhat disagree. I NEED to know that versions 1.5 and 2 are in the pipe, if I am going to commit my applications to the use of prototype.js. What happens when things break in IE7, or IE8 or Firefox4 or whatever.  The point is browsers dont stand still, and I need to be confident that libraries I am dependent on will not become obsolete. I am not a javascipt "Expert", so I am dependent on others to maintain this code.

The FUD that I see on this thread concerns be deeply.

FUD is Fear Uncertainty and Doubt, but in this case, there is some validity in it.

Fear - I fear that my dependancy on prototype might be a mistake.
Uncertainty - I am uncertan that the developers of prototype are committed to the project, as they do not participate in this list and provide no information.
Doubt - I doubt that this project will survive if the developers dont interact with the community.

This is a cancer that will eat at the community if left unchecked.

The solution is simple. Communication between the developers and the community.

Just my 2 bits.

If you are interested in improving prototype, that's one thing, but then offer constructive ways to do so rather than just repeating yourself over and over. You read a couple of articles out there from people critiquing proto and now you just want to jump in as though you're some sort of _javascript_ expert and we are newbies. News flash, a good lot of us in this list are _javascript_ experts and we've managed to use proto with GREAT success in spite of anyone's judgements against it.

Moreover, this list is a place for people to present their problems/solutions centered around proto/scriptaculous. You are doing neither. Just stop.
