I'm trying this in a different format to
address different parts as I see them. Read on and through.

Kelly, as you said, you got involved because
men wouldn't step up and do the job. That is where this whole issue
started, in my humble opinion (of which I've been giving much of as late).
If men had been doing what they were supposed to, then the women wouldn't have
had to step up and do it for them.
I'm not advocating (as was insinuated in an earlier
post) that we should kick all women out of leadership positions. On the
contrary! In fact, I salute you, among others, for picking up the slack
where men should have been doing the work.

If men should wake up and follow the Holy Spirit's
urging to do as men should do and get involved, are you willing
to step out of the way and let men do the job? I think the key is the
willingness to submit to the authority as discussed earlier. I
don't have a problem with women stepping up and doing the job. However, if
men desire to do so, will they find a place to serve? or will they find an
entrenched woman, and/or a closed mind and decide to go back to being a couch
potato because "there's no room for me"? This is purely a rhetorical,
generalized question, I don't know you from Eve, and wouldn't want to
falsely charactize you or anyone else. I am not trying to get personal,
just spark some thought.

I congratulate you on the fine work your boys have
done. The truth is, as I understand it, they should have been able to do
just as well with men leaders doing what Rangers was conceived and designed for,
mentoring of boys to Godly manhood.
Another sideline question. Would they have
been as successful if their commanders had not been Mom and Dad? What if
they had only men commanders and Mom helped with requirements at home? I
haven't been involved in Rangers very long, but I've noticed the kids who
"perform better" are usually commanders' kids. In our church, the last few
GMAs (the last one was several years ago) have all been commanders' kids.
Those whose parents (Dad, Mom, either or both) weren't involved or even come to
church didn't receive the extra attention/help as those whose parent commanders
*helped* (made) them do it. Just my observation locally, not necessarily
across the board. I'd be interested in hearing others' take on
this.

Didn't ruffle my feathers. In fact, I don't
even have any feathers on top to ruffle! <grin>
