"1 tent away" or in a totally separate area of the campground? I'd like to
hear more from our German or Australian commanders about how they separate
the genders on camps.
We at our OP have the girls put up their tent/Kothe at opposite parts of the
camp site. For example: Our OP ist allotted a certain area . This area is
divided up in the girls area and the boys area. Sometimes the area is small
so we will be closer together. It is usually the boys that assist the girls
in putting up their tent area. The functions they attend are the same as the
boys. I can not remember having an event especially for the girls such as
survival crocheting or outdoor knitting.
And you are correct, males lead males and females lead females. No outpost
is allowed to start a girls group if no female leader is available. If a
female leader goes AWOL we close the girls team down. That is it.
Obviously, they have separated the genders, so that
males lead males and females lead females. So given the lack of girls in
our camps because of the separation between Royal Rangers and Missionettes
(see my comments below on this topic), the only reason a lady would be
going on a camp-out in the States is to lead boys, which is contrary to the
example provided by the Germans.
This I could not imagine happening over here nor have I ever seen it . So
actually you have one ahead of us.
