Thanks guys for allowing me to survive<G>

As I was *sure that fireing on the "Jesus first- Jesus Only"
was sure to be the place where I fell thru the thin ice<G>

I'm just outside the borders of traditional Ranger oversight,
and not under domination of any Aog Minister at the moment, other
than the ties to my *Dad<G>

I spent a week at Scout camp and got to talk with the chaplan
who spent the summer.. *He was a Christian and had become saved
from a Catholic heritage in a AoG church. He now attends a community
church and felt called to volenteer as a Chaplan at this Scout camp.

*His duties were varied, and light.. so he set up a screened shelter
and invited anyone anytime to stop and play a game of chess<G>

Boys and Adults did.. *As the sun broke on the lake each day..
Chaplan would begin to sing praise songs to Jesus<G> His voice
carried thru the camp, and later he's be availible to play chess.

He was respectful, quiet, patient and kind.. He participated in the
campfire skits and was open and honest in all ways about his role.

*He didn't preach.

*He just listened and answered questions.. waited and asked the next
one while playing Chess- *He was serious about both being a chaplan
*and a chess player<G>

Cdr.Jen was there too- and we went to talk to him, and the temptation
was to blurt out Royal Ranger history and experiances and Buzz talk<G>

*But the man just listened... (WE talked while doing some laundry<G>)

He beautifuly explained the reasons for a growing Community church
movement, and the need to keep things as basic-simple as possible.

The part where he said that he didn't have to hit the nail on the head
or drive a point home, ..got me thinking..<G>

Earlier, when in transition from OP207 to OP354 that folded..

*I was lectureing older Challangers on the subject of "critical thinking"
I had circles and diagrams on a chalk board with arrows and suddenly
a wistle blew!

"WE GOT TO GO NOW!"

And the OP354 boys ran downstairs, lined up and stood bone straight
for inspection.. Commander came around, smelled them and checked them
for difeciencies or random movement. If they passed his muster- a treat
of candy was given them. *I even got a chunk, even tho I was sitting
on a desk watching.

WE RETURNED UPSTAIRS-

And I tossed my candy in the trash.

I told the boys how I had seen a "Master" train a dog to hunt.

I infered that they needed to "think criticaly" and choose to respond
when called on, and mayby not just *react to a set of expectations
contrived by another, even a Leader.

This didn't win favor with Dr.Commander when his son explained
to his Dad that Commander Duane thought he was treating his boys
like bird dogs...

there was a moment of energy there... a spark!
We worked it out<G>
