> Dear mark > with adults CPR is great and thank you for teaching for so many years. > times do change and so do standards thus so do lawyers is changes as > opportunities to sue. putting all of that aside at Chicago O'Har Air port > the did a study on AEDS > In the most cases adults need electricity and kids need O2 > If ANYONE, regardless off the age of 12, AEDS can be used on them. I have kept out of this debate for as long as I could, but here is my 3 cents worth.
1/ We have a responsibility to those we are in charge for look after after the well being. This means if the child is hurt then we attend to their injury. If you do not know what you are doing then you take the risk of making the situation worst. Therefore training in First Aid is essential. 2/ Do not settle for a "crash course" in First Aid. It takes about 16 hours for someone to learn just the basics. Do not think in terms of how much it will cost, but instead, if I get the best course then I'll be better trained to handle any situation. Also do not settle for the basic course go on and do other courses to improve your knowledge. I have been invivloved with accidents ranging from a broken finger nail to a broken neck (not at Ranger functions, thankfully) as apart of my Duties as a member of St. John Ambulance of Australia. We provide First Aid coverage for a number of different events. So we get to see a wide range of injuries. I currently hold Advanced First Aid, Advanced Resusatation, Semi Automatic Defib (AEDS) and anagesic gases (it used when the casuality is in serve pain). In others words, I have the training of a ALS (Advanced Life Support) Ambulance driver. So get trained, stay trained and pray you never have to use it. There's a storm coming, our Storm. PROCLAIMING GOD'S LOVE TO A DYING WORLD Say to the captives, 'come out,' and those in darkness, 'Be free!' Isaiah 49:9 I looked to the heavens to where God dwells I looked into my life to see he lives there as well.
