Training "Mighty men of god" don't have all that much appeal to me.
I don't know about the 'Mighty' part, but I'd sure like them to end up as men of God. As long as I am convinced that unsaved kids go to hell, I have to include some Jesus somewhere in every meeting...
*Perhaps later, in time a look back might result in that conclusion,
But for the present.. *I want to a Royal Ranger because it's fun.
I want to be a Royal Ranger because that is where I am accepted into
a group of friends that goes places and does good things.
I'm only 10 to 13 and don't know a lot about what my future holds..
but I'm willing to enjoy the adventure offered me by a active Ranger
outpost. *I see that the purpose.. that makes this adventure practical,
affordible and fun is related to camping in tents and cooking for
myself.
yahoo! I'm all for fun and games and healthy competition. But let's not forget why Royal Rangers was created. Let's throw in some stuff to let them know who our Saviour is...
Doing that.. allows me to go new places, be challanged by the outdoors
and associating myself with good people like Commander.
Lot's of preachers talk and talk.. they lecture like teachers or
work at holyness.. But my Commander is a fair and balanced family man.
Let the preachers preach. Let us share the love of God with our boys. We don't have to leave that out to have fun. Bible studies and devotions do mot have to be boring or endless to be timeless and eternal. (a quote paraphrased right out of LTC...)
Yea.. We can get wild and be a handful-
But we can have good clean fun too.

Trips to the State Railroad Museum, baseball games with the Sacramento Rivercats, bowling, skating, fishing, skateboard parks, the Zoo, water balloon and super soaker fights, rocket days, miniature golf. Good stuff! It ain't camping and cooking, but it works for us. Yeah, we do camping and backpacking, too, but not all of our city boys care for playing in the dirt...
