I personally refuse to make judgements on books, songs, videos or dvds (I
don't get to the theater much), other kinds of literature, or
"entertainment" that is supposedly "Christian" unless I read, hear or see
them, for myself. The main reason is I hear a lot of good and bad about
these kinds of things and cannot make a fair call on them by what other
people say. Another reason is: What if I miss the Holy Spirit by NOT
allowing myself to glean from them what God would say to me?

Think on this, how many times to people say they don't want to have anything
to do with God or 'religion' simply because they don't like what the Bible
says they have to do to be a Christian? Yet, they haven't read the Bible,
listened to what the Bible says, or seen a true Christian's life in action?
Is this not the same thing as condemning a "man's junk stuff" without
actually seeing what is in it? I am NOT putting any book on the same level
as the Bible, but making an analogy for us to consider.

I personally have heard nothing but good about this book, so for me to make
a great judgement without considering the sources of bad testimony mentioned
would not be fair, so I refuse to judge without reading it for myself.
However, when I do expose my spirit and mind to these kinds of things, it is
always with prayer for the Spirit to guide and direct me in the process,
whether to read and discount it, to act on it, or to shut the book without
finishing it.

My advice is if you are going to read it, keep your Bible close at hand and
keep your spirit covered in prayer while you do so.

In His Grip,

DJ
