Situation ethics. His bitterness will come from the bitterness you are
exhibiting in your post. We realize the situation is not ideal. What
does your pastor say regarding alternative nights or so-to-say joint
custody (working on Saturdays or meeting before church on Sunday
nights). Do you have the leadership in place to handle Pioneers,
Trailblazers, and Trail Rangers?
We can debate all kinds of different potential situations. They are
exactly that "potential situations". Stick with the facts. Submit to
your pastor. Pray. Encourage. Communicate between your Sr. Cmdr. and
Pastor. Show the willingness of the young Ranger to achieve the GMA to
the pastor. The pastor may have a change of heart.
Give you a different spin on your situation. Let's say that by going to
youth that the young man is trained and becomes the next Billy Graham.
Keep him in Rangers and this does not come about. Something to think
about.
> How would like someone to tell you "you can't be a Royal Rangers
> commander because you're to old (ie. 45-50)."?
That would be ok. If confirmed, then I would believe it is The Holy
Spirit leading me in another direction. Just because we want to be Royal
Ranger leaders does not mean it is God's will.
> I think pastors need to place themselves in the kids shoes before

How about placing yourself in your Pastor's shoes. What is his reasoning
for having 12 and up go to Youth? He probably has insights into the
situation that you are not seeing.
> Like John said, there are 12 and even 13 year olds that has no > business
>going to youth.
Agreed. Each child is different. Think about this. What is the purpose
of Youth but to reach, teach, and keep youth for Christ. To make
disciples of Jesus Christ. To teach them how to handle the peer
pressures places on them today. Please read Gal. 5:15. No more Rangers
verse Youth. Each plays vital part in the body of Christ.

> To me this is how we should work with youth:

Nice thought. Doesn't work in reality. Why? Because Youth "cleans" them
too. Rangers and Missionette's "Finishes" them also. Both ministry /
programs have their purpose in the body of Christ and reach different
individuals at different levels of maturity.
Just my humble opinion.
In His service.
