Once we know our boys, what next?
-------------------------------------
The next step is to team the boys together for success in the patrol.
The Patrol is the physical "thing" that polishes off the rough spots
and raises the shine of an individual young man. Life is filled with
opportunities to succeed, and a wise man is only ahead of a slow
man by his ability to become ALERT to opportunity.
Patrol Life is critical to the success of the Outpost because it is the level
where
real leadership is learned, or confronted... The Sr. Guide of our "dreams"
comes
from the patrol that had a bumpy camp, minor conflicts and still are friends.
The boys learn from watching, and this is why we need in every way possible
to
back and build our senior boy leaders.. before the younger boys.
How can we teach leadership, and not leave anyone behind?
-------------------------------------------------------------
We set the playing field at "level" and facilitate change of directions to
the junior leaders to allow them practical application of their time
as a leader to give them a significant experience. Then as we promised-
we rotate the leadership upward on the chain of Command.
To not leave anyone behind- the boys need to see a real path of succession
in Leadership positions that is based on the content of character more than
advancements or favor, by the adults. It's our job to instruct in the roles,
set the tone and present the *program. In a "perfect outpost" it is clear
to the boys that leadership is theirs... decisions are theirs to make,
success
is theirs and so is responsibility! Royal Rangers is a 'real thing....
So- "Commander" is chief Instructor?
-------------------------------------
Among too many other things<G>
Commander should be a 'garden buff- and GROW LEADERS!
(plant seeds, nurture, water, fertalize, stir things up, weed, replant,
harvest)
Commander is the key man, this is why he needs to think deep about
delegating authority, and work in every way possible to- "*Replace
Himself" with another Leader! *Life has many opportunities!
We must be READY for them as they arrive, and good leaders move
through the ranks, and bless people as they go! How does he do this?
*Wisdom is nothing more than "guided discovery" and it's very simply done.
To make a friend, become a friend.
To make a leader,become a leader!
What kind of leader will we follow?
------------------------------------
We all may have differences, but I'm sure the Leader I follow
will be *just and fair..kind and polite and filled with honor.
The question I'm concerned with is what kind of man will my
Rangers become? "Command" is rare where we are placed
in positions over others, but daily we have choices to make and
our decisions will make us who we will become...
Good choices- Wise choices becomes... Good people.
