Brothers - I have been lurking in Rangernet for a couple of years now and
have been blessed by the ideas, prayers and support shared in this network.
It has been a sad couple of weeks this month as the unimaginable has
happened. I felt led to come out of lurking and ask for prayer for the
(ex)commanders and boys of what was one of the strongest outposts in Ohio
District, Outpost 79. As I sat in Commander John's living room surrounded by
commanders with almost 150yrs of collective service in the Royal Rangers and
one bye one when called upon the almost unanimous vote (myself included ) was
neigh. The question was -- Will you remain on as a commander in our outpost?
Why? You ask, well because I am not a member of the church where our outpost
meets therefore I cannot comment publicly on what led these men to resign
from Rangers and most of them from the church also, but as someone outside of
this particular church I have seen enough to know that I clearly support
them. As you serve side by side with someone - much as you do in our
governments military service - a strong bond is built up, a bond that God's
own enemy cannot sever. These men have a heart and desire to serve the Lord
and fullfill our mission to Reach, Teach, and Keep Boy's for Jesus Christ -
and our avenue to do this has been blown up, not our desire, nor our bond,
but just the church home we serve in. I honestly believe that the church does
not know the impact this has on the youth in our community and quite possably
its own membership. Many of you in Ohio know of our outpost and the caliber
of men whom I have had the honor to serve with, many of your boys have
visited our camp at this years Pow Wow (we had the rope bridge as an
entranceway) and we have visited with you. Some untrue things have are being
said about the leaders within our outpost so please, whatever you here, pray
for discernment before forming an opinion. Keep us in prayer as we try to
find another avenue to serve. Keep me in prayer as I establish communication
with the boys of my outpost to try and let them know I will not be there when
our outpost resumes its meetings next month (my heart breaks even now again
as I compose this message- please believe me that resigning was not an easy
decision to make for myself and my brothers in the Lord - tears were and
still are being shed. I pray that some men from within the church step
forward to continue on or refer the boys to where we will be serving and not
allow ego's and church politics get in the way of seeing these boys saved and
fed the word. Our desire would be no boy lost and I personnally would like to
field your opinions on how and what to communicate to the Boys without
slingin mud.
