It's no secret that the pastor is the shepard of the church, however
without his support the RR program will struggle, and it will take a
really strong Commander to keep it going. I have been fortunate to have
been in 2 different Out Post's (Potamac District # 59, #10) where the
pastors strongly support the RR program and the result is tremendous to
say the least, just ask Gary Rothwell and Steve Guinsler. The pastors at
those out post took the Out Post Cdr. under his wing, the Out Post cdr
took the other Cdrs. under his wing and so on....each would answer to
the one above them. In some churches the pastor will call for a
"cleaning day" usually on a Saturday and give out refeshments
afterwards. We usually asked our Pioneers to come and help out, and as a
reward for the pioneers we would give out " Ranger Bucks" as an added
encentive. When the pastor sees this he has to appriciate the dedication
of the Cdrs. and the boys. Don't be surprised when he starts to give
support (with prayre) be surprised when he doesn't. You don't have to
take my word for this, just ask Gary Rothwell from Out Post #59 Potomac
Dist. Got to go and do my real job. As always, your brother in Christ.
