Eagle Feather,

Now if I let everyone in on my secret then I might not win in the next
competition.
But here it is anyway...
 * Have some good fresh char (make it at camp).
 * Have a nice piece of Flint with some sharp edges on it so you can get
some good sparks on the first strike. (most hard rocks will do, quarts
or something that doesn't chip off).
 * Have a Steel that you can hold on to tightly.
 * Have a good nest of very dry grass (something that will burn easy.
 * Strike the rock on the edge of the steel, not on the flat end.
 * Right after you get a spark to stick on the char, place the char in the
nest (if it itn't there allready) and hold the nest up (so you won't get
smoke in your face) and blow into it medium to hard for about 5 sec on
each blow, until you see fire. (then place it down so you won't burn your
fingers).
 * Practice, Practice and more Practice.

Anyway, that's how I do it.
