Over half of our Royal Ranger group comes from the bus ministry. That does
not mean that all the trouble-makers are on the bus. Many times, I find
that the "regular church kids" are worse.

Some of the solutions I have found are:

1. Enforce strict discipline on the bus coming to church.(Since I also run
the bus ministry, this and others ideas are easier for me to do than if I
was not involved in bus ministry.)

2. Get the bus to the church no earlier than 5 minutes before service
starts.

3. Start the Royal Ranger/Missionettes program on time! Remember what you
were taught in LTC.

4. For Pioneers/Trailblazers, there needs to be a "high energy" type of
program. More emphasis on doing than just listening. My outpost meetings
do not fit the standard program outline. My recreation and hands-on
activity times tend to be a little bit longer. My devotions are
interactive. Emphasis is placed on involving the boys in as many parts of
the meeting as possible.

5. When there is a severe discipline problem, the boy is taken out of class
by another commander and counseled with. If it is a persistent problem,
then I speak to the parents(this is the same for bus kids and the kids whose
parents go to the church.)

6. Finally, I have found that personal followup is the key. I try to visit
every one of the bus families every week. The parents know me, and the kids
know that I will probaly be visiting their house on Tuesday or Saturday.

7. Don't forget to pray for and with the boys. Just keep loving them.

Hope this helps..

Allen R. Cook - Cookie
