My best experience is far more simpler than any of yours. I
started teaching SA in Sept without too much of an idea of
what to do. Our group is fairly new (4 years) and hadn't had
a SA leader before so I didn't have anyone to ask about SAs
except a Sr. Commander is aboard ship for several weeks at a
time for a year and half (he's CG) until he retires. So I
got my handbook, relied on my ECE degree and 15 years
childcare and came up with some things to do. I started with
4 little boys who were just as unsure as I was about this
whole business. ("You can't be a commander, you're a girl!
Commanders are men. We had a very nice discussion.)
In October, when we were working on a handicraft, one of my
little guys looks up from the leaf he had colored and was
now cutting out, to smile and me and say "THIS is FUN!" and
the rest agreed. This was special to me because he and his
twin weren't too sure they wanted to come to SA and now they
can't wait to come. God is so good!
I imagine their will be other special times but this one
will always bless my heart.
