*I showed the Movie "Sargt.York" to the Outpost once in an attempt
to show a Christian perspective to American Military service. Gary Cooper
played a backwoods sharpshooter who was evil and struck by lightning
on the back of a mule, following a heckleing session at the local church..
(*that bore a strange simularity to the chaple at Eagle Rock<G>)

He had a true conversion experiance... as he changed and studied the gospel
he read of forgiveness and love.. (Walter Brennen 'Ole Grandpa McCoy was his
PASTOR!<g>)

He was tore between yeilding to the draft in WW1 and head'n to the hills...

He struggled and struggled and *recieved a "word" to yeild to "Ceaser that which
is Ceaser's, and unto God that wich is God's" In this movie.. (*REMEMBER IT's
just a movie) Sargt.. York overcame his religious conviction to takeing up
arms against the enemy. He was awarded the highest awards for bravery under
fire...

*My outpost just could not relate or understand Gary Coopers attitude!

Nothing in my Assembly of God church preached conciencious objection...
and in Peace- the subject loses it's bite! I recomened this classic movie!

Go back to 1962 when Rangers was formed
and you have the Cuban missle chrisis and the posibility of ICBM Nucular war
with the former Soviet empire and the greater Communist world. It was very real,

and close to the edge... Shortly, America began to prepare for a political and

phyisical confrontation with Communisum, and that led us to action to oppose
Communist aggression around the world. We surrounded Cuba and sent advisiors
to South Vietnam.

*If haveing lived that, and being taught that even from the Pulpet, the evils of
godless
Communisum...

More to come!
goatta go, I'll be back<G>
