Nothing has changed since 1962 between them and America.. an economic blockade is in fact an act of "cold war"... The USA is in conflict with Fidel Castro in a long standing dispute... and we anticipate a soon collapse of his dictatorial regime Some propose lowering the blockade and restoring relations.. but the original intent of President Kennedy was to Stand firm for Freedom.. We have done that. We remember the message from the Statue of Liberty- "give me your poor wrenched and tired huddled masses" and under the wings of freedom in America... we welcome those who escape the bondage of Communism. It seems strange that a country that has stood for freedom would turn it's back on one 6 year old boy. You don't need a passport... you cross the Berlin Wall.. you tunnel under the fence in Korea... you ride a raft from Cuba... and when you arrive.. This land is your land, this land is my land... *Land of the free and Home of the brave! Today Elian Gonzales is free... Let him win the freedom his Mother died to give him.
