The fact's are they got a "law" or "Policy" and the reasoning is that enough is enough! The business of education is paramount and the safety and welfare of the students is above the actions taken against this (I assume innocent ) Eagle Scout! > I remember in the "good old days" when I went to public school, and carried > my official boy scout pocket knife with no concern whatsoever that I might > be breaking a rule. Nobody stabbed anyone, but I did use my pocket knife in > electronics class to strip wires with. *Yup... me too *and..that's compelling in your remembrance.. However- Professional administrators of this school district instituted a Zero-Tolerence policy.. (sometimes they even make the students sign contract's ect.) and are serious! > I remember last year, when a girl in my neighborhood got kicked out of > school because her lunch bag accidentally got switched with mother's, and > her mother had put a small paring knife into her lunch with which to cut > her fruit. The young lady involved saw the knife, knew it wasn't supposed > to be there, and gave it to her teacher. She was summarily suspended. Zero > tolerance leaves no room for common sense, discretion, or an evaluation of > any real or imagined threat to safety in a school. *Now yur talk'n... Zero is zero! *Justice is BLIND! Some of you "Social Conservitive-Christian Rightwingers" started complaining the Judges were getting too soft and going easy on Drug dealers and "criminals" when sentenceing them to prison... *So among others- Sen.Orrin Hatch of Utah legislated something called "mandatory sentencing" to tie the hands of Judges, when handed a conviction. A lot of BAD GUYS are in prison... *Cool! *Now when a person is arrested and tried, say- "the Mom" in the home of the drug dealer, she is as guilty as the drug dealer! *The judge has a 8.5" x 11" card with a color grid chart.. He looks at the laminated card as says: "Harboring a felon and aiding in his traffic in illegal drugs... 30 years with no probation" *Next! The Governor of Texas- G.W.Bush has executed 178 people, including the Christian-Carla Fea Tucker and excused only one! This in less than 4 years.. *His statement is this: "I've turned that job of capitol review over to the State Parole board and will not intervene in their decisions.. *I have only two criteria for my involvement- 1. Was the person convicted? 2. was the trial conducted under the law." Is his "justice" tempered with MERCY? *NO!... That is a abandonment of his LEADERSHIP! *It's the job of the Governor to review and grant stays to assure that no innocent person is killed by the state.. Is this EAGLE SCOUT INNOCENT? *No! GUILTY! *Does this Eagle Scout deserve a hearing before a Judge to assess and moderate-dismiss or reduce the penalty for the violation of the rule? *YES! ...of course! *But so does every gang-banger diddy-bop hop head... who packs a ice-pick. *In the absence of the peace needed to conduct every case with "fairness" *Blind Justice takes it's place... *All have sined and deserve to die! Christ took our sin- and paid our penalty in full measure... *Arn't you glad we have savior like Jesus! Tho I would die and burn in Hell... Jesus came and stood for my sin... > > > I remember that the first murder was committed without a gun. It was > committed without a knife. It was committed with a rock. Abel died at the > hand of his brother. Murder is murder and the penalty of sin is death.. > > > I remember in the Navy, we had some intruder drills. All of these things are readily available in > a well-equipped high school auto mechanics or shop classroom. There is NO > WAY to totally eliminate weapons from schools or aircraft. Attempting to do > so only starts to eliminate useful tools. It ain't about tools-knives-guns... It's more about the society we desire to build and how we get there from here with everybody on board... *Look you assume the Eagle Scout has the same rights as we adult citizen's do.. WRONG! *some of the right's we have as Adults are suspended in public schools such as "search and seizure" "privacy issues" for the health and safety of these minor's. -=A=- > > > There is a way to make our schools safer and to cut crime.
