No, this is not a matter for the courts. Judges only interpret and apply
the law. It is a matter for the lawmakers. I have my say at the ballot box
and in communication with them.

The problem is, they aren't addressing the REAL problem at all! They are
trying to be VERY harsh on certain outward behaviors, but do NOTHING to
correct the spiritual problem that they are trying to deal with. How can a
secular institution like the schools really deal with a spiritual problem?
People need Jesus far more than they need a padded room with no weapons.

Yes, and blindness can sometimes be a BAD thing. In this case, the state
legislature modified the law due to the outrage at the PUNISHMENT of an
INNOCENT GIRL. Check your Bible -- punishing the innocent is wrong, and
grievous to God.

Yes, but this brings up the potential for abuse. Assume for the moment that
some bad guy wants you out of the way. All he has to do is plant some
illegal drugs in your car or house, then anonymously tip off the police.
You are pulled over, the contraband found in your possession, and you are
GUILTY and jailed. You are guilty of violation of the drug possession law,
but you never did anything wrong. You were framed. This the kind of thing
ZERO TOLERANCE leads to. Or perhaps someone plants a (gasp!) pocket knife
in your son's backpack out of meanness. Where is due process? Where is the
U. S. Constitution's bill of rights?

Guilty of technical violation of an unjust law, yes, but hardly a threat to
society.

But what about mandatory sentences and zero tolerance?

Yes, but not at the hands of the state for possession of a pocket knife.

>Christ took our sin- and paid our penalty in full measure...

Amen! Sorry, but your plea has no value in a state court... even if it will
save your life in Heaven.

Yes!
