> *No Flames! > > We are Rangers! > > What a relief ! Yea.. to me that means *comrade *amigo *Buddy-pal and the little bumps and differences are overcome by our allegiance to the common cause! > > > But they might be activated now by somebody after reading the following. > > I know it is a touchy subject with my US-Ranger friends. > > But he thought hit me today that all this girls-in-Rangers-or-not stuff, > does the US-arrangement not resemble some type of apartheid thinking ? *Perhaps it seems that way- but in truth it is simply a product of how in the USA the Ranger program was created.. Cdr.Johnnie was appointed and began to put things togather from over here and over there... The Man -boy was natural because the founding sponsors were the Men's ministry and we already had established Missionetts as a group sponsored by WMC Women's Missionary Council. *Ok that history-<G> *But along with developing an excellent program, the concept of "Leadership" was integrated into the program, and we began to think of "Building the leaders of tomorrow" and used the phrase: "Never did a man stand so tall as when he stooped (*got down on his knees) for a boy" *Clearly the word picture is of a Man "ministering" to a boy... National training began with the LTC courses 1-4 and was followed by NTC... at that time Ranger training was fairly up-to date... But always there was a regional difference in concepts of "Holiness" and the role of Women in service to the church. *Some are confused by believing that when God created man he intended all leadership to pass through men and that women are to be subservient or to abstain from leadership over men... *In 1990 the Assemblies of God published a position paper to clarify it's understanding of the role of women in service to the church, and it was adopted and signed by the General Council of the AoG. (*stand-by I'll re-publish it for your reading enjoyment) > > It took a long and painful time in the US to get away from the segregation > issue - see Birmingham Alabama and such, and it seems that this train of > thought is still prevelant, only this time it seems to be stuck with RR's. > I understand that the RR's emerged from the mens ministry and is still an > arm of it in the US. *That's interesting in that "civil rights" were in the news at the time of the formation of Royal Rangers... as was a positive view of the "para-military" from Americas participation in WW2... To some extent the "culture" shifted away from that then recently shifted back<G> *Culture as well as fashion can be fickle<G> Germany was destroyed and forced to review the consequences of it's militaristic attitudes and the result was that many social changes were integrated by the re- building of your nation. Social issues were addressed early, and you grew up with different attitudes as well as opportunities... > Yet could this not be reconsidered and allow the woman into RR's right up to > Trail Rangers ? *Sure- and in fact it is being "looked at" with the integration of programs in the older youth ages, *But was nixed- or scraped when Missionetts bucked at the thought. We are back at the primitive stage of thinking in the USA that Missionetts is for the girls and RRangers is for the boys and everybody is happy! > What is the problem ? *Often- our Ranger leadership was based on personal friendships and allegiances to personalities. In the 1960's the founders kept saying the boys were the next 'era" where leaders would come from.. However, the way they lived was not to promote boys to leaders but to "hang-on" forever...if that was the goal... then an army of 1962 Rangers would be on-line<G>Heheee. I like this new crowd in Springfield... *they want the program to reflect values and be understandable, easy and whole... so rest assured the problems are known and being "worked out"<G> > > We do it succesfully for as long as the RR's are in Germany and will > continue to do so. > Actually the RR's where tried out first at OP #1 in Bremen by a fine lady by > the name of Britta Oberpaur. Her husband is now sectional leader of northern > Germany. > Her positive hands-on-report kicked off Rangers in Germany. *When I "Let-go" of trying to 'control or dominate... of trying to *Order right behavior.. and see my job as raising "morale" and moving the group in the right direction... then I am free to enjoy my time as a Royal Ranger.. and with pride see boys step up to the task of becoming leaders themselves! *Have you ever shared a chocolate bar with the group on a cold trail? I carried that thing, and opened it didn't say a word-and *shared it.. everyone got a chunk.. they all got a lift and! *I didn't have to carry it's weight anymore<G> I "gave it away" *I want to give it away- *everything and leave for my Father in heaven, bulah land and the un-cloudy day! > > We have woman trainers at NTC, JLTC and so on. > > Following the posts of Cmdr.
