I am the wife of a commander here in Las Vegas, Nevada and am new to
the
e-mail list. Hello everyone! I have been reading with great interest the discussion on women having a role in the Royal Rangers ministry. I can't help thinking about a reverse situation. How would parents/commanders/leaders feel if a man were to accompany our girls on a girls' retreat in Missionettes? While I think that a man greatly serves as a teacher in responsibility, somehow I think someone would cry that this is "inappropriate" in today's society. Yet this seems to be the case for a woman who accompanies boys on a Royal
Rangers camping trip.
Please understand, I do feel that both men and women have a great responsibility to our children, and both can be effective leaders in both Royal Rangers and Missionettes. But I also wish to look at the situation from both sides. That's my two cents. |
