I know it's hard to understand what happened following such an incident,
when "You thought" you were doing the right thing... But try to read this!
Commanders can not "Command right behavior" but must use other tools
to "raise" morale, than punishment, threat or fear tactics! Raising "morale"
is real leadership. and "sells" to boys, parents, and pastor!
*When you find it a "struggle to control-" you know what you want, and that
is a clear expression of the GOLDEN RULE to be the implemented in the
actions of the boys! When that doesn't happen- *TIME OUT! GO BACK
TO THE BASICS! ...GO BACK TO:
*LTC. training
*NTC training
*Your own common sense of the matter..
Also.
If you lead by example (or role model) and deal with others the way you want the
boys to act. Like: Between your fellow Commanders, create a "Commander Patrol"
with a original name, cheer, flag, song, etc. at camp outs your "Commander
Patrol" would have their own campsite and come-up with "fake problems" like the
ones your receiving from the boys and solve them the way it SHOULD be done. After
awhile you will begin to notice a change in the boys they will WANT to act like a
patrol because they see how a success your commander patrol turned out to be.
