It is OK if you limit the Pinewood Derby to Straight Arrows & Buckaroos in your
outpost. It is fine if you let all of the boys, girls, and commanders join the fun (in
their own classes, of course). Realize that in a group this large, you are going to
get a wide variety of practices represented. This isn't so much about making little
race cars and racing them, but about commanders, boys, and parents having fun together
in a Christian environment, be it indoors or outdoors. There is nothing sacred about
this particular activity, but it seems to work well for many groups. Some older boys
really like it. Some seem to be bored with it. What is the difference? Commander
enthusiasm?
