Why stop there? Why not "Reach, Teach and Keep Everybody for Christ"?
It works everywhere but the USA.
The church I used to attend used that slogan all the time. But you know it
just hit me as I was writing this post. Sadly enough it has become just a
slogan. One problem is that we barely understand our core beliefs ourselves,
so how can we teach them. The core beliefs go beyond the doctrinal beliefs
of the A/G but all the way back to Calvin and Luther. If you want to get some
insight into the core beliefs of the church and the Protestant movement get
yourself a copy of the Hiedelburg Catachism and go through it carefully. It
gives the core beliefs of our faith and the scripture references to back it
up. All of the denominations started with these beliefs and still have them
but we have added so many manmade ones to fit our own view points.
AS an example when I was growing up we were told in church that Baptists were
sinners because they did not believe the same way as the A/G and they only
way to get into heaven was if you were saved and a member of an A/G church.
Waht we all need to do is put aside the petty denominational differences and
as Charlie Daniels says "Get back to God's business"
