Only thing about that was, you had to supply your own Tabasco... Navy
supplied "Crystal brand Hot Sauce"... Tomato water pretty much...
hehe.

We did keep a stock of Tabasco in the 1st class mess though. That
helped.

Best thing on the chow line... Chili Mac. Worst thing... Pork Chops
(with that rainbow glossy oil film).

Worst drink underway... box milk from PI when the real milk ran out (or
they were hoarding it up in the Officers Mess).

Worst desert... Chocolate pudding... tasted like ground cardboard with
cocoa in it...

Best desert... fresh cinnamon rolls at 3am... fresh out of the oven
(before they got cold and turned into hockey pucks)....

Best part about the MidWatch... raiding the Officers Mess and the
Chief's mess. (Chief's usually had better stash of desserts).

Served on USS John Young (Destroyer) and the USS Nassau (Amphibous
assault ship). T'ween those two and NAS Oceana, did just shy of 12
years... all good memories now... (not that it's over). Hehe.

Parson.
