I you go to your principal and speak to him/her about this you should not
have a problem. I also went directly to my son's teacher when she was
sending home GooseBumps books and once he came home with some thing called
Brain Soup that was filled with horror. I wexplained calmly that such
things are not allowed in our children's hands, minds and home and I
explained the reason why. This direct approach worked with a teacher that
had decorated the room in October with "Spelling Demons." I have found that
if I allow my child to handle these issues they are not taken seriously-I
think the teachers assume they are trying to get out of reading, but if I
take care of it explain it is our spiritual belief that these things do not
belong in my child's mind and I always offer alternatives and they are
usually excepted.
So you might have to handle this yourself.
My husband even managed to have "We Are the Champions" which is about
growing up homosexual kept from being played at assemblies.
I guess I just went a little overboard with my .02.

Subject: [RR] Question
Y'all,
Hey there quick question. Josh has to read the Harry Potter
book for his class. It is a reading
class, the instructor is forcing this on them. That she or he told them it
is required. My question and I
don't want to see Josh getting in trouble. Is there someway he can go to a
person to see if he can by
pass this? There was already a student that was told that they had to read
it.
The other classes are full so that is out of the question. Thanks for any
help
John
