I am running the same application on two
different laptops, both Windows 10 64 Bit,
R:Base XE, one with Bitdefender (old machine)
and the other (new) with Windows Defender. I
find that with the same RX% files on both
machines, the starting screen (an external form)
will be displayed within about 5 seconds on the
old laptop, while on the new one it takes in
excess of 20 seconds. I have the same
configuration settings (as far as I can tell)
and find that this behaviour only happens with
R:Base. With RRBYW19 the start time is about 4
seconds on the old machine and about 24
seconds on the new one. (With CAD files the
newer machine opens files faster than the old
one, as it should.)Â Â I was wondering if
anyone has any suggestions as to what may be
causing this significant difference in
performance. (According to a disc test I ran on
both, the transfer rates on the new laptop are
1500 MB/sec (write) and 3000 MB/sec (read),
while the rates are significantly lower on the old machine - all SSDs.)
Is this likely to be due to the AV software, and
if it is, can I stop WD scanning RX? files
? (I tried installing BD on the new machine
but that created a few blue screens so I gave that idea up.)Â
Any suggestions would be welcome.
