David and Brad:
There is no problem moving the clients to Windows, the problem is telling
them that they will have to move to 6.5++ first (cost 1) and then to 7.0
(cost 2) which has the features that they really want, plus the upgrade
pains. I am convinced that the version to use is 7.0, provided (of course)
that is as solid/stable as its predecessors. I have not had a chance to use
it yet (2 weeks to training), but from reading the comments on the board, I
see so many things that I badly need NOW.
As you know, the software field is littered with companies that promised
software that never made it out of beta testing (vapor ware) and left a bad
taste in users mouths. I am not implying in any way that this is the case
with RBTI, in fact I believe that it Is quite the opposite; however, it
makes it difficult to convince users of this double update.
If you have been using WIN 6.5++ for a while, upgrading should not be a
problem as it would represent the next logical step; however, if you are
using DOS the double upgrade becomes an issue. I believe that it would help
greatly (at least in my case) if there would be a release date for 7.0. If
it is one year away, then I will shut up and use Win 6.5++, if it 1 or 2
months I will wait, and if it is somewhere in between then I am in the
proverbial "rock and hard place" thing

....And, perhaps to state the obvious, migrating forms/reports from RBWIN
6.5++
to 7.0 can greatly reduce development time, versus re-doing DOS
forms/reports
from scratch for 7.0 implementation.

Brad
