Dennis,

Depends on what the cache file settings is set at. You might need to pause
for like 30 seconds or a minute.

DISCONNECT
PAUSE FOR 30
RENAME....

The problem you may have is another user might go into the dabase while you
are waiting.
I would adjust the setting in the novell client.

Troy,

Thinking about this a bit more...

Would this be something as simple as putting a Pause after my disconnect
and wait X seconds? The current code is:

  DISCONNECT
  DELETE mmis.rb?
  RENAME newmmis.rb? mmis.rb?
  CONNECT mmis

The error is right after the Delete. I.e., "You can't delete a connected
data base" (and then a renaming error).

That would be great if it's just a Pause after the DISCONNECT
I'll give it a try. Five seconds sould be plenty???

can goto the server that holds the Databases, right click on My Computer
and click on Manage. In the manage box click on OPEN FILES... This will
show you who has the database files open. You can then either click on the
individual database files and close them manually or you can close ALL of
the open files at once.
