Marc,

I ran a large technical support organization for many years. I had a team
of network engineers that specialized in troubleshooting difficult problems
in large networks. They frequently isolated the problem to Ethernet wires
running over fluorescent lights.

Another common source of intermittent network problems are related to power
issues. Make sure that every PC is connected to a high quality UPS
(preferably one with voltage regulation).

Hi

I have heard you should have your Cat5 cables 4ft away from fluorescent
lights

but the electrician wiring my new office says it is not necessary.

Is there any info from major companies that I can give him or am I being
overly concerned?

Thanks

Marc
