I have had had the same experience this week . Using the same version of R:base and windows 7 ultimate version. However I was able to print RTF but not PDF. Later on the problem was gone and I still don't know how. I had the computer restarted, which did not have any effect. The only other thing I did was printing a PDF from a word document. From then it works well again??!! I did not change anything in my print routine, which I use for quite a while. When the pdf prints the file is only 1 kb and when I attempt to open the file an error message appears that states 'There was an error this file is already open or in use by anther application' .
