Hi David, I played with this awhile back, but my recollection is fuzzy.
I *think* Win7-32 bit was OK, 64 bit not so much. If they are using XP-Pro there is little reason to switch to Win-7 in terms of use with their upgraded server. If they are using one of the Home versions, then they will need to upgrade to a Pro Something to join a server domain, if that is their intention.
