I disagree that R:base needs to be client server. R:Base fills a very large and important niche. R:Base is more than just a RDMS, as it also provides the interface and programming language. If you move away from the core competancy of R:Base and try to tackle the C/S market, it will make R:Base compete against other C/S database engines like DB2, Oracle, Sybase, MSSQL, and Btrieve to name a few.
