I agree with Donald.
Although it would be nice if R:Base was C/S you can get very similar
capabilities by hooking it up to Terminal Server or Citrix Metaframe. In
some ways this is even better than traditional C/S databases like
SQLServer since both the front end and the back end run on the same box.
This can make for much easier application maintenance.
There is already too much competition in the C/S database market.
R:Base fills an important niche that products like MS Access don't come
close to serving.

I disagree that R:base needs to be client server. R:Base fills a very

and important niche. R:Base is more than just a RDMS, as it also provides
the interface and programming language. If you move away from the core
competancy of R:Base and try to tackle the C/S market, it will make
R:Base
compete against other C/S database engines like DB2, Oracle, Sybase,
MSSQL,
and Btrieve to name a few. If Informix couldn't make it...
