Space savings - Takes up less space.   Instant on - If you use the windows power saving feature with a crt, it will take 5-10 seconds to light up. The lcd is instant on.   I believe they will last the same as the crt. I have a couple here that are over 4 years old.   LCD are true size where crt are not. A 15" lcd is almost as big as a 17" crt(crt is 15.9" viewable).   Also, the price on lcd has came down to a more tolerable price.
