In addition to Dawn and Dan's comments, I've used 3 LCD monitors in a plant environment, and have had no failures in 2+ years. I don't buy any any CRT's anymore. Everything new is an LCD. In all fairness to CRT's, I have a couple that are 4+ years old, and still running in a dirty, dusty plant environment

Ditto to all Dan's points.  In addition, as a 'bean counter' myself, I would not purchase another CRT monitor, unless it was for a plant environment where there was a high risk the LCD would get damaged.  We've decided with the pricing coming down and an increased emphasis on energy savings, it only makes sense to buy LCD now.  (Besides the fact that they look better at the front desk than a clunky CRT when visitors come in the building.)

I haven't researched disposal of LCD monitors, but disposing of CRTs, depending on the community you live, may cost you. (Though many have recycling programs that are free.)

Space savings - Takes up less space.

Instant on - If you use the windows power saving feature with a crt, it will take 5-10 seconds to light up. The lcd is instant on.

I believe they will last the same as the crt. I have a couple here that are over 4 years old.

LCD are true size where crt are not. A 15" lcd is almost as big as a 17" crt(crt is 15.9" viewable).

Also, the price on lcd has came down to a more tolerable price. You can buy a 17" lcd for $199( or 159 with a mail in rebate).

I have always used CRT monitors and am considering LCD monitors presently and want someone else's opinion and (I meant Trust) truck the sources on this list more than anyone else.

Anyone have a preference and why?

Heat and energy savings a ones I have heard of so far but this is hard to quantify with the bean counters. Will they last longer? or anything else. We run monitors 24/7days and I need to order 15 to 20 new monitors and am trying to make a decision.

Thanks
