I'm considering a Big Apple or Marathon XR in a 700x50 size, and
wondered about the differences in gearing compared to a 700x35 tire,
which I use on another bike. I can see how the gear inches change by
the gear charts for different size tires, but what affect does the
extra width and heft have, if any, in real world riding?
A 2 tooth reduction seems to be where I'm going from my road bike
using a 13-32 7 speed freewheel.
