I have used both on my Atlantis, with fenders. They are about equally
heavy, and both are tough, versatile, etc.

I wouldn't spend much time thinking about gearing, as the actual gear-
increase from the bigger tires is on the order of 2%, while a jump
from one cog to the next is 5-10%. Most of us ride most of our miles
in 2-3 gears, and modern drivetrains give us the option to shift our
cruising-gear range by one or two cogs without a second thought.
