It's relatively easy once you know how. Let me see if I can conjure up
some muscle memory into words.

Position the link so it's approximately in the middle of the bottom of
the chain path.

Remove tension from the link by pulling the chain, i.e. use the
derailleur to create slack.

Now squeeze both sides of the quick link together while sliding the
links apart. The squeezing is the trick. Maintain the squeeze while
sliding the links apart.

Before squeezing/sliding, it might be necessary to work the link back
and forth, especially if the chain is very dry or dirty. Worst case,
apply a dry of lube to each end of the link first.

I would suggest practicing first on a link that's on an uninstalled
chain, then you can put those Sram links to use, or feel free to send
them to me. :-)

Hopefully that makes sense...it's easier to show than describe (maybe
somebody has a YouTube?).
