I for one don't think the 88s are lacking in power. Heh. During my last Iraq deployment working in a clearing depot for battle damaged vehicles, we had to ask the Army guys to bring over a couple 88s to lift a battle damaged M1 onto a transport trailer. Normally, it takes four cranes to do it, but a couple of the cranes were down for maintenance. The two 88s barely worked up a sweat lifting that 70+ ton M1.
It would be very cool to see a 200 - 250 pound M88 on the field doing recovery ops. :) Mike PS: The 350 watt motors for the M113 Zelda arrived today. As a former crewman in a (lightly) armored vehicle, I am with you in lamenting any loss of power! I can understand a switch to diesel for resisting fires, but losing power?! sacrilege!
