There is a certain merit to that scheme (realism can be cool at
times), but it would leave the older tanks (WWI, WWII) in the dust,
speed-wise.  If the scale top speed was set to 1mph in scale to 10mph
of top end in real-life, the WWI tanks would be 1/2 to 1.5 mph.  Even
WW2 tanks would be running about at 2 to 3 mph, with modern
competitors achieving the top end and being able to engage or
disengage at will from anything lesser.  I think it'd be more real,
but less fun.  Of course, my opinion is worth what you paid to hear it
