I have been thinking about making a tank for a long time now, but I do
not know what I need.
One good place to start is at:
http://www.rctankcombat.com/articles
which covers quite a few of the important topics. Next, browse through
the various tanks that have already been built, listed at:
http://www.rctankcombat.com/tanks
where you'll find lots of great construction details and different ways
of solving various problems. Find the techniques that you like and
start with them ... there is no single perfect solution.
Finally, start from the bottom up. Pick a track design, find road
wheels and decide on the type of motors to use. Everything else builds
on top of that foundation.
