What I have done with all of my creations is just buy a 1/35 scale model and
scale the measurements up after measuring them on the model.  Works great
for me anyway.  If you use that Syren controller, just make sure you protect
it with fuses or breakers (I think fuses are preferable since breakers can
tend to hold on longer before tripping).  I'm not sure, but those Dewalts
can have some pretty high stall current.  Personally I would go with a
heavier duty controller, but that's just me.  I use the Victor 883's and I
also have a Vantec RDFR38D I use on my M113.
