rather than that, what about attaching a strong magnet to the back  side of 
the cap? this way, you don't have to wait to the silicone to dry any,  and 
if you find you still need to make another, quick adjustment, it's just a  
matter of pulling off the cap, make the adjustment and putting the cap back 
on  (and then hit the dirt)
