Todd,

You should have received a new units at an absolute minimum. When it comes to
compensation that's a bit of a sticky situation that is usually handled on a
case by case basis.

I will be talking to the Mgr of this group to get this squared away today.

Thanks.

Friends:

Years ago Outback tried to pull this on me. I dealt directly with Steve
Higgins and after a brief discussion, he came through with a brand new
inverter. Other problems ensued and Steve comped me up with a refurbished
item. Steve intervened and made this situation right, but I did have to stand
up for my rights. Don't take no for answer.

i recently installed a grid-tie with battery backup system. the fm 80 was
defective out of the box, so i called outback for a replacement. i got a
refurbished unit which when installed resolved the problem. the customer was
not happy about paying for a new unit and getting a used one.

when contacting outback about why a new (defective) charge controller was
replaced with a refurbished one and how can i be compensated for basically
doing outback's product quality control i was told:

"OutBack Power Technologies does not offer compensation for warranty work."

question: is this the new norm at outback? if so... this is a sad day for me.
