Please note we updated 2020 NEC 690.31(C)(1) to allow 24" between
securing/supporting points for PV cable, and removed the problematic
reference to 334.30.

The change was made because as you all know there is not always a way to
secure wires within 12" of a box on the back of a PV module. Of course
wires should definitely not be allowed to touch the roof but the hope is
that 24" allows for proper wire management but with a little more freedom.

2023 NEC will update to 24" for ≤ 8awg, 54" for >8 awg. If you disagree,
please let me know and we can work on a public input for 2026.

Best,
Rebekah
