So, what about the data typing of getters/setters on records? Wouldnt flex have issues with the fact that they're all string values? Or should the cfproperty tags define the correct types?

No, it doesn't matter. As long as the actual CFC that you're passing back and forth to AS has <cfproperty/> tags and matching get/set methods, it does not matter what those methods actually do. My comment about record objects was that the translator (from AS on inbound calls) would not know how to correctly create the record objects - because only Reactor knows how.
