Mike - I'm going to try my best to be helpful and diplomatic - even though I feel you've been a bit hostile on this list. However, it is merely a personal observation on the perceived tone of your emails - whether you mean it or not - this is how a lot of people have taken the tone of your emails. Please take that at face value and it's not an attack on you. If you would like to continue discussing this particular subject with me - please take it up with me off list. That said, back to the subject at hand.
It appears that you development setup is what is causing you some problems. I currently use Apache and virtual hosts. It has work extremely well for me and it lets my development environment mirror a variety of production environments that I need to work with. In my humble opinion, Apache isn't that difficult to work with - especially if you're only doing simple stuff. Even a dummy like myself was able to get Subversion running and I was also able to get basic HTTP authentication and permissions working with Subversion as well. I then can added hosts to my hosts file and can run local copies of applications. Like http://maepub/index.cfm. As others have suggested already, maybe you should transition to using Apache in your development environment. Instead of migrating all your application over, you could just use Apache for all new projects. I think it's a good compromise and Apache doesn't cost a thing - so initial investment is about free (a good thing)! Best, .Peter -- Peter J.
