Which is the same reason I use it. And I don't mean to put down any
efforts of RB-based developers. We've all supplied important
solutions to whomever our clients are. But there has yet to be a
widely recognized "killer app" developed in RB that I am aware of.
Virtual time clocks, CD burners, and digital video system managers
(like I do), etc. aside.
Put it this way... try to name an application in any field, which 1)
all of us on this list know, which was made in RealBasic. Maybe this
is possible. Then 2) mention that app to the most computer software
savvy person you know, who is NOT an RB-based developer... will they
recognize it too? All the apps I mentioned would meet that test. We
all know them, and so do all those people we would choose to ask.
This is really what I meant by "world class, commercial
applications." Software that is well-known for its quality,
functionality, and reliability.
RB needs that kind of a feather in its cap to win over some types of
developers and their projects. Until it is proven that can be done,
many developers will go to solutions which have already proven that
they can do it.
And Xcode, is one of those tools. And that was the crux of my point.
To date, at least, people develop the world's killer apps in Xcode
(etc.), not RealBasic.
