Yes, you would have to use GNU/Linux (maybe OSX, using the Bootdisc program, but this only works pre 10.4), and either roll your own or use say Knoppix or Mepis or one of the other 1000 Live Linux based distros as a base and customise it, RB would have to write access to directories it needs, so these would have to either in RAM or a remove server.
