Yes, yes! Absolutely! After the changeover I was crushed. At that

didn't really see much dissent.
That's because it opened doors that were not previously available.
I felt like the kid in the story
about the Emperor's new clothes. It seems to be in the nature of tech
stuff that it is really not possibly to effectively say "wait, the old
version was better, let's roll it back".
In a few areas it was faster but not necessarily better.
In my opinion the same thing
happened in the windows world going from vb6 to vb.net. And then
there are the changes in runrev... I just accepted that I have aged
out of the range of keeping up with all the latest.

I'm 59 and started programming in the old B.A.S.I.C. myself. I would
never wish to re-visit that! I also have no qualms about the new
compiler.

certain age one loses the ability to adequately judge "better". I
console myself by pretending its just young clueless fanbois that
don't have any depth of experience with which to judge as I dodder off
into oblivion. Meanwhile, I knock out my apps quickly with instant
"compiles" and runtime changes and do some sci-fi reading with the
rest of my time.
If it works for you then that's great. Another satisfied 4.5
customer. :)
